Hi all, Another thread started by me... Sort of have to ask a favour here... Just wondering if anyone might be familiar with the following radio special from 1993: http://www.monkeywrenchradio.org/radiowaves/19931018.html I've asked about this within a number of other forums and nobody's been able to help, so I thought I'd run it by people here since we're all a bit more individually devoted to Jeff in particular. Please note that this is not the famous Rockline interview with "Bee Girl" that we're all aware of, but rather something that took place afterward and involved Ed and Jeff basically taking control of the Seattle radio station and DJing. This seems like such a cool and significant event and yet I've never heard/read anything about it beyond the blurb that I linked to above. I'm not necessarily asking for a copy of it -- although if someone does have it, I would definitely be interested in a B&P transaction, if possible -- but rather, I'm just wondering if anyone can give me more details/transripts/etc.? Anything, really... Thanks!
**Sorry! I have no idea why my last topic posted twice! I'm embarrassed, especially since it was a request. I can't seem to delete it, so please ignore the double-post!! **
hmmm, i've got the full monkeywrench radio set on cd somewhere... 4 cds full of ed DJing, calling mike watt on the phone and some live performances, too...
Psycosmic, that's not the radio special I was talking about, although thanks for the effort and for bringing back good memories of listening to the Monkeywrench broadcast. The segment from Monkeywrench Radio when Ed and Jeff are sorting through tapes and "accidentally" play the song about weed = Priceless! *LOL!!
KISW (Seattle's) Cathy Faulkner lost a bet of some kind (softball game) and Pearl Jam's winnings was either 90 minutes or two hours of radio with Pearl Jam's choices. Jeff Ament and Eddie Vedder took the opportunity to play lesser-known groups, like Urge Overkill and Red House Painters.
The funniest part is Faulkner trying to do the radio tihng and explain to people what's going on and Vedder, particularly, telling her to just play the music and stop explaining. Vedder also seems to enjoy messing with her head a little and Jeff and Eddie cracking each other up - all without drugs. Pretty funny, really. (And, no, this isn't the later "Self-Pollution Radio" broadcasts though this was most likely the inspiration for it or a kind of practiced run through).
I have that recorded as well, though I dubbed "Noise Pollution Radio" before I knew they called it anything. A loose track listing of that is here
